If you’re part of a team or club, participating in team competitions is a fun way to add additional competition and build camaraderie. The innovative scoring model factors in age, gender, team size, and race size.
Each athlete’s Equalized Time™ is scored on a 1,000-point scale based on their overall percentile. Teams/clubs are ranked based on the aggregated scores of all members.
Athlete Age & Gender
Scoring based on Equalized Times gives athletes of all ages and genders the same opportunity to meaningfully contribute to their team’s score. A sixty-year-old female has the same opportunity to earn points for their team as does a thirty-year-old male.
Team Size
The progressive scoring system allows smaller teams with highly competitive athletes to compete with large teams with less competitive athletes. For example: In a 5,000-participant race, a 30-member team with an average finish in the 90th percentile would earn 18,000 points while a 200-member team with an average finish in the 50th percentile would only earn 15,600 points.
Race Size
Scoring based on percentile rather than rank allows athletes to earn more points for placing high in large races than someone placing the same in a smaller race. For example: A 50th place finish in a 1,000-participant race would earn 775 points while a 50th place finish in a 5,000-participant race would earn 950 points.
